Linear Motion Control Stage with Self Locking Ball Screw

BURLINGTON, MA — Motion Control Stage — Steinmeyer, Inc. today announced a new addition to its line of precision linear stages. The new PLT165-AC series high performance stage is offered in lengths from 400mm up to 1050mm and travels ranging from 100mm up to 750mm. The die cast base profile has a width of 165mm allowing the stage to fit into smaller machine designs, while offering higher precision and medium load capacity. The stage also offers repeatability to the micron or better depending on the encoder used.

The Motion Control PLT165-AC is driven by a powerful AC servo motor or optional stepper motor, combined with a high precision Steinmeyer ball screw, which provides a self-locking feature. This makes the unit ideal for vertical applications such as Laser Processing. An optional magnetic brake is available as a safety feature in the event of power loss.

The PLT165-AC is also equipped with limit switches and a rotary encoder mounted directly on the motor. Stage body is manufactured from a low distortion aluminum alloy (black anodized) and includes a high stiffness bearing set. For harsher environments, a dust proof covering is offered. This stage can also be combined with other Steinmeyer PLT series stages, rotary and lift stages to allow for a customized multi-axis system.
