Forestville, CA, – Motion Control – The SCA814 Linear Servo Controller was specifically designed to control single phase, non-comutated devices like voice coil motors. like it’s field proven predecessor the SCA754 is a high performance single axis DC motor controller and amplifier system. It is comprised of a highly integrated single PC board level product with a cohesive interface. This card provides current amplification and analog servo control interfaces. The single-phase characteristic of the current amplifier makes it particularly well suited for DC motors such as galvanometers and voice coils. It was specifically developed for control of motor applications requiring both high temporal and spatial servo precision, such as machine vision, inspection, scientific imaging, medical imaging and other business applications. This amplifier interfaces directly to many of the Equipment Solution motor/stage solutions.

Besides galvanometers the SCA814 is directly compatible with all the ESI linear voice coil stages and the optical scanners. A bipolar linear or switching regulated power supply is required by the SCA814 amplifier. Typically better performance can be achieved when using a linear power supply. MIT EMERGENCY VENTILATOR (E-VENT) PROJECT COPY

MIT has launched an emergency research project with a team of Engineers and American clinicians to address the question:

Is it possible to safely ventilate a COVID-19 patient by automatically actuating a manual resuscitator?

Their process in approaching this question is to first identify the minimum requirements for a low-cost ventilator, based on the collective wisdom of many clinicians, design against these requirements, conduct immediate testing, report the results, iterate and facilitate discussion.

In December, Maxon Group acquired the British geared motor manufacturer Parvalux Electric Motor, Ltd. (For additional information Click Here)The acquisition expands the maxon portfolio with DC drives in the power range of up to 1.5 kW, as well as an attractive expansion of maxon group’s already broad motor and motion control portfolio including AC Motors and Worm gearboxes. The acquisition and the addition of Mr. Uzzolino to the team demonstrates maxon group’s continuing commitment to becoming a provider of complete systems. Ultimately, the acquisition opens interesting new markets requiring larger drives and motion systems such as patient handling within the medical technology sector (stair lifts, electric wheelchairs, etc.) and industrial applications (robotics and transport systems, conveyors).

John Uzzolino comes to maxon Group with 20 years’ of experience in industrial motion control and mechatronics applications. John started his career as a Sales Engineer working with a high tech distribution company, focusing on solving motion control and mechatronic applications for machine builders in the Northeast U.S. John then went to work for a local machine builder, helping them bring their automated test and measurement products to the North American market. Most recently, John worked for two European control manufacturers, helping them develop customers in the U.S. market.

Galil’s DMC-4000 Series of Ethernet/RS232 Multi-Axis Motion Controllers set the standard for high performance and value

Vaughan, Ontario, Canada — Motion Control Components — The DMC-40×0 motion controller is Galil’s highest performance, stand-alone motion controller. It belongs to Galil’s latest generation motion controller family, which accepts encoder inputs up to 22 MHz, provides servo update rates as high as 32 kHz, and processes commands as fast as 40 microseconds-10 times the speed of prior generation controllers. The DMC-40×0 is a full-featured motion controller packaged with optional multi-axis drives in a compact, metal enclosure. The unit operates stand-alone or interfaces to a PC with Ethernet 10/100Base-T or RS232. The controller includes optically isolated I/O, high-power outputs capable of driving brakes or relays, and analog inputs for interfacing to analog sensors. The DMC-40×0 controller and drive unit accepts power from a single 20-80 VDC source..

The DMC-40×0 is available in one through eight-axis formats, and each axis is user-configurable for stepper or servo motor operation. With a powerful RISC processor, the DMC-40×0 controllers provide such advanced features as PID compensation with velocity and acceleration feedforward, program memory with multitasking for simultaneously running eight applications programs, and uncommitted I/O for synchronizing motion with external events. Modes of motion include point-to-point positioning, position tracking, jogging, linear and circular interpolation, contouring, electronic gearing and ecam. Like all Galil controllers, programming the DMC-40×0 is simplified with two-letter, intuitive commands and a full set of software tools such as GDK for servo tuning and analysis.

Vaughan, Ontario, Canada — motion control – Galil Motion Control introduces the DMC-52xx0 EtherCAT master, Galil’s first 32 axis motion controller. This new addition to Galil’s EtherCAT family is a pure EtherCAT controller with the ability to control up to 32 drives and 2 I/O modules. This space efficient package also provides uncommitted I/O for easy integration into any EtherCAT application.

The DMC-52xx0 is offered in 2, 4, 8, and 16 axis formats (32 axis coming soon). Coordinated moves can be done within banks of up to 8 axes allowing for minimal changes of Galil’s programming language. The DMC-52xx0 operates in Cyclic Synchronous Position mode (CSP). In this mode, the servo control loop is closed on the EtherCAT drive while the Galil controller sends motion profile commands at a rate of 1 kHz. Galil supports a host of EtherCAT devices for virtually any application. See the list below for more details.

Designed to solve complex motion problems, the DMC-52xx0 can be used for applications involving jogging, point-to-point positioning, position tracking, contouring, linear and circular interpolation, electronic gearing, ECAM and PVT. The DMC-52xx0 makes configuration and programming easy with just a handful of EtherCAT configuration commands and Galil’s intuitive, two-letter programming language.

The DMC-52xx0 comes with one Ethernet port for communication with a host PC and one EtherCAT port to communicate with EtherCAT drives. Multiple EtherCAT drives can be linked together in a daisy chain configuration and connected to the controller’s EtherCAT port, simplifying wiring and decreasing setup time. One USB port is also provided for alternative communication with a host PC. The DMC-52xx0 is packaged in a compact metal enclosure measuring 9.75” x 5.00” x 1.60” and is powered by a single 90-250 VAC supply.
